Bible Storytelling and Spiritual Transformation
of the Congregation

What is Bible Story Telling?

Part A

Praying the Bible: Preparation for worship. Each Sunday the good news story for the following Sunday, together with spiritual guides is distributed to the congregation. Each person reads the Story every day (prayerfully), preparing for the following Sunday's worship.

Part B Establishing the cadre of storytellers. Each Sunday a storyteller tells a story (not read) as a living word presentation. As the cadre grows, stories are told to shut-ins and hospital patients, etc.
Part C Preaching the story. The sermon starts with the story and opens the story to today's experience of the congregation.
Part D Lifting to God the voice of the Psalmist. Replacing call to worship. This part releases the power of the Psalmist's voice.
Part E Learning the Bible one story at a time. This part leads the learner to internalize Bible stories. This process connects the learner to the Living Word.
Part F The Festival. Once a year a Festival of Bible Storytelling is held. This part expands the concept of traditional worship. It is open totally to the community.
Part G Faith stories of the congregation. The River of Faith. Each congregation and each person has faith stories. Sharing and telling the stories establishes identity for the community of faith. A church without its stories has no identity.
Part H The mini epic reading. The power of hearing the written word three times each year. Readers gather from two or three communities to read a section of the Bible. From this reading experienced people emerge who want to become part of the bible storytelling Cadre.
